  This is a a drawing that I’ve been working on today – the beginnings of my next painting .  It’s a redtail hawk, Jamaica, from the Minnesota Raptor Center.  I am just about finished with the sketch and should begin painting it in tomorrow .

  I just sketched out a few designs for some new paintings of western hummingbirds.  They have such a variety of them out here in the western states.  In Minnesota and the rest of the eastern US we have only the ruby throated hummingbird species visiting.  The two hummingbirds featured in my sketches in this post are the Allen’s hummingbird and the Rufous hummingbird.

  Doing a little sketching today. I have some ideas for some new paintings and am just getting them drawn out in pencil. It has been thunderstorming on and off all day today, as weather often is in the mountains, so it has been nice to do a little work inside.

  I was recently asked to show some of my work in a newly organized international invitational exhibition for miniature artwork featuring nature themed pieces.  The show will be featuring work by many well known artists, both from the USA and other areas of the world.  My Mom, Karen, and sister, Bonnie, will be showing their miniature work in the show as well. 

  

  This is the inital rough sketch I am using for one of my miniature pieces that I will be showing in the exhibition.
