Lots of beautiful views like this one. :) The fall colors were very vibrant. I already have a few new paintings planned…

A little wildlife searching in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. (Photo credits to my Dad for the top photo of the cow moose who was strangely interested in the area around the car. )

This is the progress on my cougar painting. The cat itself is about done, but the background has not been developed. I will have to find the habitat to put in the background and beneath the cat during one of my hikes around the area.

My family and I will be a part of the Jackson Fall Arts Festival - participating in our gallery’s events. We will be painting in the showroom on Friday & Saturday (possibly on Thursday evening as well) for their "Fall Roundup" exhibition. I will be painting this new cougar piece - this is the sketch for the painting. The painting is a larger miniature - it will be around 16×22 when it is finished.
Visit Galleries West’s website, www.gallerieswestjacksonhole.com, for the gallery hours and contact information.

I have quite a schedule coming up if all that is planned comes through…
I am pleased to announce that a special showing featuring my family and a few other artists is planned the last weekend of October in Frenchtown, NJ – we will be attending this exhibition. (My family and I are planning to have 30 or more pieces for that exhibition.) This gallery is also having their annual “Fall Show and Shoot” over Labor Day weekend (September)that will have some of our new work on display as well. http://www.decoyswildlife.com/
We are now represented in Fredericksburg , TX at Whistle Pik Galleries and will be sending them more work (and larger paintings) to have in their gallery. As in previous years, all three of us will have work in their annual Christmas Miniature show. http://www.whistlepik.com/
Galleries West Fine Art, within minutes of the Grand Teton National Park, in Jackson Hole, WY is hosting a wildlife exhibition, “Wild Spirit: Interpretations of Wildlife”, August 10-24 in their newly expanded gallery. A collection of my (and my family’s) new pieces will be shown there as well. We will be painting in the gallery on the 14th & 15th for their annual “Fall Roundup” during the Jackson Fall Arts Festival (6th - 16th) in September. http://gallerieswestjacksonhole.com/
Another gallery showing in beautiful Paradise Valley at the North entrance to Yellowstone National Park - Moose Horn Gallery in Livingston, MT also has a show for my family planned in September – we will be painting in the gallery on the 16th & 17th. http://www.moosehorngallery.com/
There are a number of other exhibitions that are still being confirmed…so more updates soon….

July 1st, 2006 at 8:59 pm (Inspiration, Research Study, & Field Trips, Paintings)

I spent a little time in the Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks for some inspiration, study, etc. There were quite a few elk in the area, as well as a few other animals. There is always something new to see. :D I just love visiting this place to see all of the wildlife, not to mention the unique landscape.

A wildflower hike started off the morning for me today — of course, it wasn’t exclusively wildflowers.
I was followed for part of my research trek by a little resident red squirrel. He wasn’t too thrilled that I stopped to study some flowers near his tree and voiced his opinion of it. I thought it was a wonderful to see this little creature defending his territory, even though I get to see red squirrels in my own backyard.

Today I am finishing a number of paintings for our show at Galleries West out here in Jackson Hole. I am a bit anxious to get to Jackson Hole, anticipation for the show I suppose. :)

I am doing quite a bit of painting out here in the Grand Teton National Park, but I did find the time to peel myself away from the easel a few times to walk around a bit in the park. There is always a lot to see on hikes in this area. I spotted a Townsend warbler pair along a trail in the park today while doing a little research. :D
