  . Teddy Bear Miniature Painting . Watercolor on Board, Classic Traditional Miniature .

  With the Holidays just around the corner, I want to extend an invitation to attend Whistle Pik Galleries 2008 Christmas Miniature Show Artist Reception Saturday, December 6th from 6 – 8 pm.  My last post had a video of one of my paintings in the exhibit.  This little teddy will also be in their contemporary miniature show. (..let me tell you, he was SO fun to paint…  I don’t get to paint festive splashes of color every day, you know! )

  Defensive - Timberwolf in Miniature

  I finished this wolf painting, "Defensive", not too long ago - it’s a 9"x12" miniature piece that you may have seen ‘in progress’ here on the blog earlier.

   

  

   

  I know that many of these web images online just don’t show the detail of the watercolors - so for this one, I posted a larger image crop. I just love painting fur like this, especially the textures and blends of color.

  The painting debuted at Galleries West in Jackson, Wyoming and is now in a private collection.

  Cuddling Subjects

  I just went on a photoshoot the other day - these little guys were SO cute! A few litters of baby wolves.. (This one really liked being scratched and cuddled. ) I also held a baby woodchuck who crawled into my jacket to get warm…he was about the size of a gerbil…. I’m kind of eager to get started on a painting of one of these little wolves.

  I’ve had some requests to post more of my sketches and works-in-progress on my blog…so here’s another painting that is sitting in the studio…
  
  This is a work-in-progress - a barn owl portrait that will debut at th Moosehorn Gallery in Montana. They are having a large event this summer and (…if everything goes well on this piece… ) this will be one of my paintings in their summer show.
