This is a new painting in progress of a bull moose from my travels in Wyoming. We came across two bulls and a cow in one of our short hikes (and a smidge too close for my taste..). I did, however, come away with amazing reference materials and the inspiration from observing them up close and personal in their natural habitat.
I loved the angles and movement in his stance for this piece. Looking forward to moving into color soon…

It is finally starting to feel like spring – it is warm enough to open the windows of my studio to listen to the birds sing during the day while I paint.
Things haven’t ‘greened up’ quite yet, but I am anxiously waiting for them to sprout.
This is a sketch of an iris from my garden (a blossom from last year). I felt like painting something warm and glowing that reminded me of early summer…

This is the beginnings of a drawing for another miniature watercolor piece I have in the works. I was requested to paint a more aggressive pose of a black leopard as a smaller miniature, so this is a 5×7 of a leopard ready for an attack.
The subject of the painting is a cat that, though he was in captivity, he was very intent on stalking my sister. (Which was odd, because I am usually the one who is stalked.
) So… it was a nice opportunity to gather some wonderful references of a very intense cat.
He was absolutely beautiful. I hope to do him justice in the painting.

This is a sketch for a painting of a leopard. I hope to have a painting of it completed relatively soon for an upcoming exhibition.

My family and I will be a part of the Jackson Fall Arts Festival – participating in our gallery’s events. We will be painting in the showroom on Friday & Saturday (possibly on Thursday evening as well) for their "Fall Roundup" exhibition. I will be painting this new cougar piece – this is the sketch for the painting. The painting is a larger miniature – it will be around 16×22 when it is finished.
