I have been wanting to post this in the blog for a little bit, but haven’t gotten around to it until now. I have been working primarily on the head and shoulders of the moose bull since my last posting - adding more fur texture and detail. For my next revisions of the pre-cast sculpture, I will be refining the detail on the logs and boulders at the base of the sculpture. I will be doing some work on the antlers fairly soon as well. :)

Here is an updated picture of the progress of my precast moose bronze. I have been adding a bit of habitat and texture to the piece.

I did a little work on my moose bronze today. I usually have to take a few breaks from my paintings during the day, so I like to switch to sculpting for a short while during that time. :)

Here is the photograph of the precast bronze sculpture I mentioned earlier (detail of the precast). I began covering the armature with clay this morning — most of the moose is now coated.

My new sculpture tools arrived today — it feels like Christmas opening all of the packages.
I started on the new bronze with the armature for the animal and the habitat surrounding it. I am approaching it as a three dimensional painting — I think it will work out well that way. I will post photographs of the new bronze (precast) a little later, as it looks like a recycled sculpture project at the moment.

My clay for my new sculpture arrived today. I am beginning to plan out the design of my bronze — it will be a horizontal piece. The animal in the piece will be about 12-14 inches from nose to end. I am excited to get going on it!!!
