This is the third floral painting I’ve completed recently. I think I should start a few more…
This is another painting that was inspired from the Minnesota Arboretum. I loved touring the grounds there.
In the evening during our last visit (last spring), there was a group of plein aire oil painters setting up to work. Some of them had half of the gardens painted on their canvases by the time I was leaving the grounds. It would have been quite an experience to have joined them.

This is another one of my floral pieces that were just completed – a waterlily from sunken aquatic garden at the conservatory in Saint Paul that I visit occasionally. This was a very fun piece to paint. The cupped shaped petals, glowing pink in the depths of the blossom from the sun streaming down, and intense golden center…all set off by accents of blue reflected from the clear sky. Simply beautiful. …and had to be painted.
The painting is 5×7, watercolor on board (and painted in miniature of course).

This is one of a collection of flower paintings that were just completed. This piece was inspired from a visit to the Minnesota Arboretum while their iris gardens were in full bloom last spring. They were just beautiful (not to mention their poppies! …but that will have to be another painting…
). I had never seen so many varieties in one place – it was fantastic!
This painting is 5×7, “Garden Pearl” – watercolor on board.

The Latham Studios Catalog, published earlier this year, is now available to view online. The images in it are available as giclee prints (larger ones on canvas, smaller ones on board). …and of course they are also available for licensing.

This is a new painting (currently on my easel) that is nearly completed. A white and yellow iris from my garden (watercolor on board, ‘in miniature’, as always
). I had the chance to visit the Minnesota Arboretum to see their extensive collection in full display earlier this year. …truly spectacular! Every variety and color imaginable…and glowing in the evening sun.
( …so of course I have more paintings planned.
)
This piece is currently available. Please drop a note if you are interested in adding the original or a reproduction to your collection…

This is one of my latest paintings, “Rhapsody – Iris”. It is approx 6×6 watercolor on board painted in miniature. I love the irises growing in my garden and really enjoy being able to paint the splash of color in my work. My studio overlooks the gardens, so it gives a lot of floral inspiration in the spring and summer months.

I just went on a photoshoot the other day – these little guys were SO cute! A few litters of baby wolves.. (This one really liked being scratched and cuddled.
) I also held a baby woodchuck who crawled into my jacket to get warm…he was about the size of a gerbil….
I’m kind of eager to get started on a painting of one of these little wolves.
