Hi Rebecca, this Iris is so beautiful. I also like the way how you painted the background.

Carolina, RaeDi, Joann, & Lovepreet -- Thanks! ....and thanks for coming by to check my blog! I'm So happy you like it. :D (Hmm...I'm not sure if they are in California or not....)

Joann-- Yes, it's watercolor on board. (4" x 6") Just a paper surface illustration board suitable for watercolor. With all of the detail I put into my paintings, I think that a canvas texture would possibly drive me mad...so I have tended to stay away from trying that out. ...though it would be lovely with a looser style. The tightness of traditional miniature painting...and watercolor...is just a little more workable on a surface that is a little smoother.

Your Iris is stunning, Rebecca! The colors and detail are truly amazing. I actually wonder if the original flower you photographed looked anywhere near this good!!! :-)

I notice you have stated it is watercolor on "board"? I am curious as to what kind of board this is, and whether you use canvas or paper adhered to the board for your painting surface?

Thanks for sharing your giftedness with us - my day is richer for having enjoyed this beauty.

Hello Rebecca, This is truly lovely. You have captured it is such a grand way! I would like to inquire about purchasing this picture. I would like to know the cost for the mini painting and the cost for a reproduction. My Mother's and my favorite. Thank you for sharing. You are such a talent....RaeDi Rachael Wherry
