It was a thrill to watch him call to the pack. The painting of it is almost done – I should have it up here soon.

  • Ashley Says:

Those paintings and sketches are really good i wish i had that talent i almost wanted to use one for a school project but we have to do our own drawings

  • Rebecca Says:

    Thank you, Ashley.

I’m sure you do beautiful drawings. Keep practicing! :D I couldn’t draw or sketch very well when I started. I kept at it and got a lot better – I know you can do it too! :D

  • Friendly Artist Says:

Hey this picture is amazing. Is there any thing you would like to suggest for an upcoming artist?

  • Rebecca Says:

Make a lot of artwork. You learn from experience – working in your medium.

That, and make sure that you’re having fun in what you do. :)

    Rebecca

Krisi, wolf, Lilya, Allie, Amy, Anon, Jennifer – Thanks for dropping by & leaving comments! :D I’m glad you like it!

    Well, tips…

Practice a LOT. Get critiques of your work – ask what you could do to improve them. Observe your subject…the shape, shading, colors…critical. Read lots of books – I like the books “More Wildlife Painting” & “Painting the Drama of Wildlife Step by Step”.

    Hope that helps some….

    u r so good!
like I said before, I can only draw anime…still fun though!

…Have you ever taken any sketching classes?

  • Allie Says:

Oh, and also, I was wondering, do you draw/sketch some of your work on computer?
(cause I know there is this one drawing computer program that people who draw anime do it on instead of just drawing on regular paper)

(The program looks so cool it has EVERYTHING that you would need to draw with! It has shadowing and pencil and literally HUNDREDS of doodads!)

That’s a great picture! I like drawing animals too. I especially like doing dogs and owls though. I’m not so good at domesticated cats, but I like to do wild cats. I can’t draw wolves as good as you. Mine look like they came from the flea bag!

  • katie[loves]robert Says:

omg!!!! it’s really good!!! But guess what! my last name is latham too!!!!! awesome!!!!

  • Beth Says:

WOW! Your work is so good! I tried to copy your picture for a project but it didn’t come out anywhere near as good as yours! Do you have any helpful tips for beginners?

  • I lurve wild animals!!! Says:

Your work is AWESOME!!! I have tried miniature psintings… but I don’t aspire to be an artist. I rely on your “7 tips for miniature paintings” a lot, but my work still is terrible! I’m wondering: how long does it take normally for you to finish a miniature painting??

  • Rebecca Says:

    Thanks!

I’m glad you find the article helpful! Um… Good question. It can take a while to finish them..depending on how much you are putting into them. Larger ones, of course, take longer. If things are going VERY smoothly, I can complete a 4×6 or so sized miniature painting in a day or two (if there isn’t a background to paint into it).

I hope you keep at it! We all start someplace… :)

  • natwing Says:

OMG! That is an amazing wolf! all of my friends say that im a super good wolf drawer. (i have been drawings since 4th grade) Do you have any ideas or tips for a young drawer?

  • rebeccalatham Says:

Thanks! Hmmm… tips… Practice a lot. Ask for advice from artists you know or meet that you respect (get critiques). Take classes if possible. Observe your subjects as much as possible (also draw from life and/or take good reference photos as much as you can). ….hope that helps!

  • C.P Says:
