Can't tell this isn't a photo! It's surprising that you were evidently able to lay in the background AFTER the owl was mostly or entirely done, while still keeping it smooth, as well as out of the feathers. If you don't mind answering some technical questions, is the background a wet-on wet? And what kind of board are you using? Is it primed?
